Reconstitution & dosing calculator
Enter the vial strength, how much bacteriostatic water is added, and the target amount per administration. The calculator returns the concentration, the draw volume, the mark on a standard U-100 insulin syringe, and how many doses the vial yields. For laboratory research use only.
100 units per mL — check the scale printed on your syringe.

units on a Insulin U-100 syringe (0.05 mL)
- Concentration
- 5 mg / mL
- Per syringe unit
- 50 mcg
- Doses per vial
- 40
- Draw volume
- 0.05 mL
How it works
Concentration = vial strength ÷ water volume. Units = (dose ÷ concentration) × the syringe's graduations per mL — 100 for U-100 insulin, 40 for U-40.
Handling notes
Add water slowly against the vial wall, swirl rather than shake, and store reconstituted material refrigerated and protected from light.
